BACKUP

If I asked you whether or not you backup, I will generally get one of two responses. “Yes of course” or a sheepish, “I know I should but I don’t”, which is generally followed with “But I do backup MYOB / QuickBooks”.

Have a think about how you would function today if your computer failed to start because the hard drive, containing all your data, had failed irretrievably.

Losing data really puts a bad feeling in your stomach, whether it is business or personal information. It always seems that it is the important information that is lost and generally you were pretty sure that the data was safe and that there wouldn’t be a problem. Unfortunately this is normally the case. Too often, data is kept in only one place, when there is a failure, the data is lost.

Many times the data can be recovered, but, it all depends on how the loss occurs.

The best way to avoid the need for data recovery is to have a good backup system in place. Not only is it advisable to have backup, it is equally important to test the backup to ensure that what is backed up, can actually be restored.

Imagine how you would feel if you had been diligently backing up your data for months only to find out the backup’s hadn’t been working correctly and you couldn’t restore data!

Everyone’s situation is different with regard to what you want or need backed up and how you would want to recover.

We can help you setup a backup system from a simple file copy to full recovery via virtual machines.

Please, call us (4320 6131) to discuss how we can help you safeguard your data!

Here is a sample of some of the ways that you can backup.

On-site scheduled backup – Data backup to a local storage device at scheduled intervals.

  • Near-real-time backup – Data backup to a local BDR server device.
  • Server backup – Simultaneous backup for 1 to 20 local Windows servers.
  • Secure off site remote storage – All backup images are securely transmitted to remote servers for maximum safety and protection from localised catastrophic disasters.
  • On-site virtual server – In case of a server failure, our on-site virtual server can be remotely configured to assume the functions of the dead machine in less than one hour. This allows our clients to continue working while we work to repair the dead server and makes restoring the data to the repaired server very quick and easy.
  • Data restoration – Local restoration from the on-site virtual server or backup file is generally quick and relatively painless if the correct procedures have been followed.
  • Managed backup – The ultimate BDR solution is monitored 24/7 by our network operations centre, and in the case of any problems or issues the local Troubleshooter is immediately alerted.
